The Vice Chancellor of the Presbyterian University, Ghana, PUG, Professor John Ofosu-Anim has urged tertiary students to always embrace critical thinking and develop solutions that will help them to positively impact society in this rapidly changing world.
He reiterated that in order for one to be successful in this dynamic and rapidly changing world, one requires a strong foundation of knowledge, ethics, and adaptability.
Prof. Ofosu-Anim, speaking during the 23rd Matriculation Ceremony of the Presbyterian University, Ghana, at the Okwahu Campus at Abetifi in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region, emphasized that whether one is pursuing business, public health, or science and technology, there is the need to continually strive excellence to positively impact society.
He urged the students to learn together explaining that the friendship they forge together while they are in the University, their conversations in the hostels and their collaborations on the disciplinary borders of the University are very critical in their life journey.
Professor Ofosu-Anim advised the matriculants not to allow peer pressure to lead them to the paths of destruction, however, they should let the Presbyterian discipline pass through them for them to become great leaders in the future.
He emphasized that the Presbyterian University, Ghana, is built on the pillars of excellence, commitment, integrity, discipline, and faith, and they want every student to demonstrate exactly that after completing the university.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the Presbyterian University, Ghana is a Christian University and therefore encouraged the students that while in PUG, they should strengthen their faith in God.
For the 2025/2026 Academic year, saw the matriculation of two hundred and 98 fresh students into three programmes on the Okwahu Campus of which one hundred and 44 have gained admission in the faculty of medical sciences, 54 into the faculty of science and technology and one hundred into the school of business.
Matriculation is the formal ceremony where newly admitted students officially become full members of the institution by taking an oath, signing a register, and being inducted into the academic community.
