559 new Covid-19 cases push Ghana’s tally to 28,989

Ghana has recorded 559 more Covid-19 cases increasing the country’s overall total to 28,989.

“This spans from about June 23, to July 17,” the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye confirmed in Accra.

“We have 3,505 active cases. This represents 12.2 per cent of all the cases ever reported. Our recoveries stand at 25,331, accounting for about 87.4 per cent of all cases ever reported. This is the cumulative figure of 28,989 cases ever recorded in Ghana from the March 12 when we had our first case. We have recorded about 153 deaths which accounts for 0.53 per cent of all case fatality rate,” he said on Tuesday, July 21.

“For the 3,505 active cases, only 18 per cent are symptomatic; the rest are asymptomatic. Of the 18 per cent, 26 have severe conditions, 8 are critical and currently 4 are on ventilators.”

According to the GHS, the new cases come from 36 districts in 8 regions.

Ghana has so far conducted 353, 722 tests.
