Acting Provost of the College of Education at the University of Ghana, Legon, Prof. Michael Tagoe, has called on the State to prioritise funding of research in Universities, to improve the quality of higher education.

He said Universities cannot effectively deliver on their mandate of teaching, research and community engagement, if they are underfunded.

Prof. Tagoe also urged Universities to ensure stringent admission procedures, particularly at the Doctoral level, to produce competent future faculty members.

He was speaking at the second phase of the Grantee Research Methods Training Workshop for Scholars from ten African countries in Accra.

Prof. Tagoe urged researchers to go into multi-disciplinary partnership in view of the growing demands on academia to provide solution to the problems of society.
