Alan Kyerematen camp descends on NPP for what they call ”lack of adherence to rules”

Spokesperson for the Alan Kyerematen Campaign Team, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, has strongly criticised his own party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), for what he perceives as actions taken with impunity and a lack of adherence to established rules.

He also emphasised that the party is not being democratic in its dealings.

These remarks from Buaben Asamoa follow Alan Kyerematen’s decision to withdraw from the NPP flagbearer race.

Mr Kyerematen, who had placed third in the party’s August 26 special delegates’ Conference, cited concerns that the race appeared to be deliberately skewed in favour of one Candidate.

He further pointed out instances of intimidation against his agents during the election process.

Mr. Buaben Asamoa said there will be continuous intimidation of the law in the coming November 4th election.

A Political Scientist at the University of Ghana, Legon, Dr. K. Asah-Asante, said he thinks the NPP political system has been scrutinised to favour some candidates, which is why there have been withdrawals. He said the NPP should adjust its rules to promote unity and prevent further withdrawals.

Dr. Asah-Asante urged the Party Executives to right the wrongs in the party, or else they will face challenges in the coming 2024 elections.
