The Member of Parliament for Tamale North, Mr. Alhassan Suhuyini says it is unfair for the First Deputy speaker of Parliament to ask him out of parliament for disrupting proceedings amid wild disagreements in the session Wednesday afternoon.

He explained to GBC24 that heckling is an acceptable part of the parliamentary process and he should not have been singled out and punished.

The First Deputy Speaker of parliament, Mr. Joseph Osei-Wusu directed that all members who held placards with the inscription ‘Bloody Widow’ on Tuesday, face the Privileges Committee. This was after leadership of the minority refused to apologise for their action.

“What I said was that, he should go ahead and refer them to the Privileges Committee and they would go and meet Kennedy Agyapong there. And whatever they are doing for Kennedy Agyapong, protecting and defending him, they will also have people who would stand up for them,” the Tamale North Parliamentarian explained.

“And maybe he couldn’t stand that, because I know that on that committee that he is chairman of, he himself has not been very happy with the way his colleagues from the NPP have conducted themselves as far as the need to punish Kennedy Agyapong for those unfortunate words, you know, is concerned. So telling him that truth, I’m sure is what got to him, but as for the heckling, we were all heckling. I wasn’t the only one,” he added.
