Ghana’s Women’s Premier League champions, Ampem Darkoa Ladies, have advanced to the semi-finals of the WAFU B Women’s Champions League qualifiers after a 2-1 victory over Nigeria’s Edo Queens on Sunday, 30 August in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. The win completed a perfect Group B campaign for the Techiman-based side, who finished top of the group with nine points.
Comeback win seals top spot
Edo Queens took an early lead through Atume Doosuur in the 11th minute, but Ampem Darkoa responded after the restart with Rebecca Assemani equalising shortly after half-time. Milot Pokuaa then scored in the 78th minute to give the Ghanaians a 2-1 win and first place in Group B, ahead of Edo Queens on goal difference.
Semi-final draw and path to CAF Women’s Champions League
The semi-finals are scheduled for Wednesday, 2 September at the Stade du 4 Août in Ouagadougou, with Ampem Darkoa set to face hosts USFA, while Edo Queens take on Benin’s Dynamique FC. Only the tournament winner will qualify for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League finals, so Ampem Darkoa are now one win away from securing WAFU B’s continental ticket.
