Anthony Joshua has shared his first public words since a devastating car crash in Nigeria on December 29 that claimed the lives of two key members of his inner circle, Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami.

In an emotional video titled “My Brother’s Keeper For Life,” posted to his social media and YouTube, the 36-year-old heavyweight boxer called the past month “tragic,” visibly fighting tears as he addressed the camera directly.

The accident occurred when the SUV carrying Joshua in the back seat collided with a stationary truck on a busy road near Lagos.

Joshua sustained minor injuries, received hospital treatment, and returned to the UK for recovery.

Tragically, Ayodele and Ghami—housemates, business partners, and what Joshua called “my left and my right”—died at the scene. Local authorities charged the driver with dangerous and reckless driving.

Speaking quietly and from the heart, Joshua rejected any talk of his own legacy, focusing instead on duty to the families left behind.

“They were more than colleagues and friends, they were my brothers,” he said, pledging that he and a circle of friends would help their loved ones “achieve their goals.”

He vowed, “I’m going to do what’s right by them,” underscoring a commitment to practical support amid profound grief.

Joshua expressed deep gratitude in the video and its caption, thanking first responders, medical staff at Lagoon Hospital in Ikoyi, and high-profile figures like billionaires Femi Otedola and Aliko Dangote.

He also acknowledged the British Deputy High Commissioner in Lagos and Nigerian federal and state officials for their aid.

Spiritually, he drew comfort from prayer, a “higher power,” and the belief that Latif and Sina remain with him in spirit, bolstered by thousands of global messages and prayers.

Promoters say Joshua will take time to heal before eyeing his boxing future, with fans and public figures already lauding his dignified response and family-first stance.

The video has sparked widespread praise for turning personal tragedy into a promise of enduring care.
