Three Ghanaians are set to feature in the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League league phase as the competition begins on Tuesday, September 8. Antoine Semenyo, Rahim Ibrahim and Kojo Peprah Oppong are all included in their clubs’ squads, giving Ghana a presence across three different countries.
Antoine Semenyo – Manchester City
Semenyo is the headline name and returns to the Champions League with Manchester City after making his debut in the competition last season. He has started all three of City’s Premier League matches so far and already has two assists, including setting up Erling Haaland’s winner in the 1-0 victory over Coventry City. City open their league-phase campaign away to FC Porto.

Rahim Ibrahim – Slovan Bratislava
Rahim Ibrahim is part of Slovakian champions Slovan Bratislava’s Champions League squad and has featured in all six of the club’s matches in the competition this season. Slovan begin their league-phase fixtures away to Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday, September 9.

Kojo Peprah Oppong – Fenerbahçe
Kojo Peprah Oppong is set to make his Champions League debut with Turkish giants Fenerbahçe. The 22-year-old defender, who joined from Nice in the summer, is in Fenerbahçe’s registered squad and could make his first appearance when they host AS Roma on Thursday, September 10. He will be competing for a starting spot in a defence that includes Nathan Aké and Milan Škriniar.

Ghana’s Champions League representation this season comes without Mohammed Kudus, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and Caleb Yirenkyi, leaving Semenyo, Ibrahim and Peprah Oppong as the country’s three representatives. The league phase runs from September 8, 2026, to January 27, 2027, with each team playing eight matches before the knockout stages.
