Available statistics on iron-deficiency anaemia cases in women, recorded in health facilities in the Ashanti Region between 2017 to 2018, indicate a rising trend and the target group has been earmarked as the critical mass for the intervention.

Deputy Regional Director in charge of Public Health, Dr. Kwasi Yeboah who gave the figures as 93,451 in 2017 as against 107,245 in 2018 indicates a rising trend which needs urgent stakeholders attention.

This came to light when the Regional Health Directorate held a key stakeholders’ meeting over the implementation of the Girls’-Folate Tablet Supplementation Programme in Kumasi.
