The Ashanti Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Sam Pyne, has denied that the group that stormed the constituency meeting over the weekend were members of the vigilante group ‘Delta Force’.
Speaking on GBC’s Current Affairs Programme, ‘Behind the News’, Mr Pyne said the attackers were rather Polling Station executives.
Disputing rumours that the action was taken because the men were unemployed, Mr Pyne said most of the young people in the community are employed under NABCO.
The activities of Delta Force have come under the spotlight once again after heavily-built men believed to be members of the group stormed a meeting of constituency executives which was being chaired by the MP for Old Tafo Pankrono Constituency, who doubles as Minister of State for Monitoring and Evaluation, Dr. Anthony Osei Akoto.
The men disrupted the meeting and allegedly wanted to physically abuse the Member of Parliament over failed election promises.

The Member of Parliament, was however assisted to escape unhurt.
Meanwhile, Executive Director of the Ghana Institute of Governance and Security (GIGS) David Agbe says the State Security Agencies are helpless on the issue of vigilantism because of political influence.
Speaking on GBC’s ‘Behind the News’, Mr Agbe noted that subsequent governments have not shown any sense of readiness to fight vigilantism.
