The Auditor General has cited the School Feeding Programme for financial impropriety in the 2018 report. ¢899,617 cannot be accounted for.

According to the report, proceeds from the sale of application forms cannot be traced.

Under the School Feeding Programme, the Secretariat engaged the services of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies, MMDAs for the sale of catering application forms.

However, a review of records at the Secretariat, showed poor recovery of proceeds from the sale of the forms from the MMDAs.

The report also indicated that out of more than one million Ghana cedis realised from the sale of 21,880 forms, only ¢194,383 had been accounted for, leaving an outstanding balance of ¢899, 617 from 81 MMDAs.

Addressing the media in Accra on the 2018 Auditor General’s report, the Auditor General, Daniel  Domelevo, said a team has been constituted to look at the infractions committed to appropriately surcharge or freeze salaries of the officers in charge.

Mr. Domelevo called for immediate reforms of the internal Audit Units of Ministries, Departments and Agencies to make them more independent, so as to discharge their duties professionally.
