Ayawaso East NDC parliamentary primary: Baba Jamal leads with 431 votes in provisional results

Provisional results from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primary in the Ayawaso East Constituency show Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed in the lead following the close of voting on Saturday, February 7, 2026.

According to the provisional figures, Baba Jamal polled 431 votes, edging out Hajia Amina Adam, who secured 399 votes.The remaining candidates trailed with Mohammed Ramme obtaining 88 votes, Dr Yakubu Azindow polling 45 votes, while Najib Mohammed Sani received one vote.

The primary was held to select the NDC’s parliamentary candidate for the upcoming Ayawaso East by-election, necessitated by the death of the late Member of Parliament, Mahama Naser Toure.

The contest attracted five aspirants and was conducted under the supervision of the Electoral Commission, with security provided by the Ghana Police Service. Party officials are expected to formally confirm and announce the final results after the completion of collation and verification processes.
