Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso East, has denied allegations that he engaged in vote buying during the party’s recently held parliamentary primaries.

In a press release, Mr. Ahmed said his attention had been drawn to a communiqué issued by the Minister for Government Communication, recalling him from his position as Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria over the alleged misconduct.

The statement also referenced a similar communication from the NDC’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, which condemned the allegation and called for a full investigation.

Mr. Ahmed stated categorically that he did not engage in any form of vote buying or electoral malpractice during the primaries. He emphasized that he is ready and willing to make himself available to assist the party in any investigation into the matter.

“I wish to state categorically that I have not engaged in any vote buying or election malpractices,” he said, adding that he remains committed to transparency and accountability within the party.

Despite the development, Mr. Ahmed expressed gratitude to President for the opportunity to serve the country as Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria.

He also thanked members of the NDC in the Ayawaso East Constituency for the confidence reposed in him to lead the party into the upcoming by-election scheduled for March 3, 2026.

Mr. Ahmed concluded by reaffirming his commitment to the NDC and to serving the people of Ayawaso East.
