Ghana’s U20 women’s national team, the Black Princesses, have left Accra for Poland ahead of the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup. A 17-player squad, accompanied by the technical team led by head coach Charles Sampson, departed on Sunday, 16 August, with the tournament set to run from 5 to 27 September.
Group C challenge: Ecuador, Korea Republic, France
Ghana are in Group C with Ecuador, Korea Republic and France, and will open against Ecuador on 6 September before facing Korea Republic and France. The aim is to finally get past the group stage, something the Black Princesses have not achieved in seven previous U20 World Cup appearances.
Representing Africa in Poland
After a solid qualifying run, the Black Princesses will be one of Africa’s main representatives at the tournament, which runs from 5 to 27 September. Friendly matches in Poland are planned to help the team adapt before the competition begins.
