BOST to increase security at installations nationwide

The Bulk Oil Supply and Transportation (BOST), says it is beefing up security around its installations across the country.

According to the CEO of BOST, Edwin Provencal, events in neighbouring Burkina Faso where terrorists are on the rampage, is a warning to companies like BOST to be on high alert.

He said management is in discussion with National Security to put more men on the ground, increase security patrols and improve surveillance using technology.

Mr Provencal disclosed this at a seminar for members of the Institute of Financial and Economic Journalists (IFEJ) at Dodowa.

The seminar organised by IFEJ in collaboration with BOST, aimed at educating the media on the mandate and operations of BOST.

Mr Provencal explained that, events in neighbouring Burkina Faso where terrorists are on rampage are a warning to companies like BOST to be on high alert.

BOST has installations at Buipe, Bolga and a booster station at Savelugu in northern Ghana. These strategic installations serve petroleum products to Ghana’s Sahelian neighbours including Burkina Faso, Niger and Mali. At full capacity, 4.5 million litres, equivalent to 51 BRVs or tankers of oil is discharged weekly.

Mr. Provencal who took of over as CEO of BOST recently said beefing up security is part of a major strategy transform the company.

Meanwhile, BOST has resumed its operations at Buipe. The hauling of petroleum products through the Volta Lake stopped in May 2018.

The Chairman of the Interim Management Committee of the Volta Lake Transport Company (VLTC), Rear Admiral Tahiru Muniru, disclosed that 3 million liters of fuel were discharged last week.

He welcomed the development saying it has a huge implication for safety on the Tema- Paga highway.

Rear Admiral Muniru further said the development has a positive impact on the VLTC since seventy percent of its revenue comes from BOST.
