Gianni Infantino has been reported to FIFA’s Ethics Committee after British NGO FairSquare accused the FIFA president of a series of actions involving Donald Trump. The complaint says the conduct may have crossed a line that football’s governing body is meant to protect very carefully.
According to FairSquare, the case centers on eight incidents, including FIFA’s Peace Prize for Trump, public support for Trump, and backing Trump’s Nobel Peace Prize nomination. The group also points to links between FIFA and Trump-linked organizations as part of its case.
FairSquare says these actions amount to a serious breach of FIFA rules and an abuse of power. The organization argues that Infantino’s behavior raises questions about whether he stayed within the political neutrality expected of football officials.
The complaint has added fresh pressure on Infantino, whose relationship with Trump has already drawn attention in football and beyond. Critics say the matter is not just about one award or one meeting, but about how much influence a FIFA president should have in political matters.
If the allegations are upheld, Infantino could face a two-year ban. For now, the complaint puts both his leadership and FIFA’s own ethics standards under a harsh spotlight.
