The Agriculture Development Bank, ADB has allocated 23 million cedis to support the Poultry industry to increase the production of broilers. The money which would be distributed among Poultry Farmers in some selected Regions is on pilot basis.

Some industry players however feel the support is misplaced as the money is insufficient and also not backed by Policy to regulate the mass importation of cheap frozen chicken.

Mr. Kofi Brobbey Kyei who is an Executive Member of the Greater Accra Poultry Farmers Association, told Radio Ghana that the industry requires more than three hundred and sixty million dollars to enable the farmers in the poultry value chain thrive in a competitive environment. He said the major challenge is that of hatching day-old chicks especially in the face of continuous import of day-old chicks and imported products of chicken.
