The Bank of Ghana has announced that it will launch a Digital Agency Registry to enable the bank to monitor activities of financial agents.
At the opening of the Euro Money Conference in Accra, the Governor and Chairman of the Central Bank, Dr. Ernest Adison said, the Bank of Ghana is developing a Digital Agent Registry in collaboration with the financial services to enhance the identification and over sight of activities of financial agents.
“The new Registry will interconnect with Ghana’s Digital Address System to provide unique identification for agents and facilitate real time monitoring and tracking of agents. The registry will facilitate customer’s access to a preferred agent points by mapping agent locations and also inform stake holders if agents violate regulatory requirements.” he said
He concluded that the Bank Cyber Security Regulation with the financial sector will also be launched next month to address Cyber Security challenges in the Digital financial landscape.
