The Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has engaged traders at the Takoradi Market Circle as part of ongoing nationwide consultations ahead of the presentation of the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy.

Dr. Forson described the interaction as one of the most inspiring moments of his regional tour, emphasizing that direct engagements with ordinary citizens are central to shaping a people-centered budget.

“It was clear that our efforts to stabilise the economy are beginning to bear fruit,” Dr. Forson said. “Many spoke of easing prices, renewed confidence, and a growing sense that the tide is finally turning in their favour.”

The Minister’s visit to the Western Region forms part of a broader government effort to ensure that the upcoming budget reflects the lived experiences, challenges, and aspirations of everyday Ghanaians — particularly traders, small business owners, and market women who play a key role in the country’s economic activity.

The engagement also provided an opportunity for the traders to share firsthand concerns about market conditions, inflation, access to credit, and expectations for government interventions in the coming fiscal year.

Dr. Forson reiterated the government’s commitment to inclusive growth and fiscal discipline, assuring that the 2026 Budget would focus on consolidating economic stability, job creation, and improving living standards.

The 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy is scheduled to be presented to Parliament on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
