China now Ghana’s biggest trading partner

Minister for Defence, Dominic Nitiwul says Trade between Ghana and China has increased exponentially over the years so much so that China is today Ghana’s biggest trading partner.

He said the profound historical bond of friendship between the two countries nurtured during the tenure of Presidents Mao Zedong, Kwame Nkrumah and others has been rekindled in recent times.

Mr Nitiwul was responding to a toast proposed by the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Shi Tin Wang in Accra to mark the 70th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China.

Mr. Nitiwul commended China for the several development assistance to Ghana saying Ghana is ready to adopt the Chinese development model to accelerate its growth.

The Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Shi Tin Wang noted that in the past decade about 700 million Chinese people have been lifted out of poverty and this is the greatest achievement in human history.

He also touched on Ghana’s achievement and pledged the resolve of China to help develop Ghana.

Ghana’s Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, together with the Chinese Ambassador and other dignitaries cut the anniversary cake.
