Fabric, and shoe dealers in the Sunyani Municipality have expressed worry over poor sales this Easter.

In a market survey at the Sunyani Central Business District, the traders said the COVID-19 restrictions and ban on social gathering has greatly affected businesses.

A fabric dealer Festus Yeboah noted that sales have dwindled this year due to the embargo on church conventions, saying, people normally buy fabric mostly to attend these conventions.

He said during previous Easter festivities, his shop gets choked with customers but things have changed this year.

Mr. Yeboah observed that sales in African prints such as GTP, Hitarget, Lace, Akosombo Textile Limited (ATL), Woodin materials, and polish cotton have seen poor patronage this season.

A dealer in shoes and slippers, Vida Baffuah also complained that sales have dropped drastically this Easter season.

She explained that most people purchase shoes to match the fabric they wear but due to the dwindling sales of fabrics, the situation is nothing to write home about.

A groceries trader, Ruth Benewaa said the sales have not been so encouraging as compared to previous years.

She said the Easter season is a period most people purchase artificial spices but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, people now prefer natural spices such as Hwentia, Rosemary, Ginger, Garlic, because it is believed to boost the immune system.
