The Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations is to meet Organized Labour and the various Employers’ Associations to commence negotiations on the determination of the National Daily Minimum Wage, NDMW.

The meeting, scheduled for today, Thursday April 22, 2021 follows the fallout in the 2021 budget leading to numerous concerns raised by Ghanaians.

Current daily minimum wage stands at 11.82 Ghana Cedis.

Concerns raised by various labour groups including the Ghana Federation of Labour expects the Employment Ministry to consider the impact of the various taxes in the approved 2021 budget including the COVID-19 Health Levy, Energy Sector Levies Act and the Financial Sector Clean up Levy of five percent.

It is believed that the new taxes will gravely affect the Ghanaian populace, considering the government’s inability to include the daily minimum wage in the 2021 budget.
