The Ministry of Finance has announced that the Government of Ghana has fully settled a US$700 million Eurobond obligation ahead of schedule.

‎According to a press release issued by the ministry on Monday, July 6, 2026, the payment was completed on Thursday, July 2, 2026. The settlement included US$525.2 million in principal repayments and US$174.8 million in interest payments.

‎The ministry said the latest payment brings the total amount Ghana has paid to Eurobond holders since January 2025 to US$2.1 billion, in line with the terms of the country’s Eurobond Debt Exchange Programme.

‎It explained that the payment was made through the government’s planned financing arrangements and did not place undue pressure on Ghana’s foreign exchange reserves.

‎The Ministry of Finance said the settlement will reduce the country’s outstanding Eurobond debt, strengthen investor confidence, and demonstrate the government’s commitment to prudent debt management and maintaining macroeconomic stability.

‎The ministry added that it will continue to implement sound public financial management practices to ensure the timely servicing of Ghana’s debt obligations.

‎It also thanked the people of Ghana for their continued patience, support, and confidence.
