A tax advocate, Mr. Bernard Anaba, has called on government to speed up the passage of the Tax Exemption Bill as the new parliament readies to begin its work.

This, according to him, will generally lessen the burden of taxes on the citizenry, boost economic activities, support startup businesses, and enhance competitiveness globally.

Although there are efforts by government to streamline the tax exemptions in Ghana, the exemption bill in parliament has not been passed.

Speaking on GBC’s Uniiq FM, Mr Anaba said passing the bill will further outline measures on Tax Exemptions, and enhance the overall growth and development of the country.

Some workers and residents who shared their concerns with GBC believe that when the Ghanaian worker is less taxed, it will go a long way to improve their productivity. They also appealed to government to pass the tax exemptions bill and reduce some taxes in the New Year.
