Four thousand Youth have subscribed to the first ever Vodafone Virtual Skills fair.

The fair was organized to provide career guidance, access to training content and help the youth make informed career choices online, as a way in bridging the digital skills gap.

This has become necessary as the COVID-19 pandemic accelerates the adoption of technology and also changed the dynamics of workplaces and skills on demand.

The Fair seeks to contribute significantly to developing the country’s human capital. The event brought together industry experts who shared their knowledge, experiences, and skills with the youth through engaging presentations.

Addressing the Media, Chief Executive of Vodafone Ghana, Mrs. Patricia Obo-Nai said one of the leading drivers of unemployment is a growing skills gap amongst young people.

‘’businesses such as telecommunication companies are struggling to fill a wide range of digital and technology roles that are critical for future growth’’. It is the first time we are doing this and it’s amazing to have 4 thousands of our Youth have subscribed to this. I’m sure if an event was in person we would probably need a National Theater or Conference Centre. But it’s amazing to see that by the power of technology we can get about 4 thousand or five thousand youth interested in doing this.” , Mrs. Obo-Nai stated.
