France launches initiative for Ghanaian entrepreneurs

A space to highlight projects and initiatives for sustainable cities and regions dubbed “the City of Solutions’’, which is a model city that will bring together economic stakeholders, civil society and public authorities that want to get involved with and invest in the sustainable cities and regions of the future is being convened at the 2020 African France Summit in Bordeaux, France from the fourth to the sixth of June.

This unprecedented event will gather, in addition to the civil society, all the political and economic stakeholders from France and Africa to discuss innovative projects and imagine the sustainable cities of the future.

Organisers indicate that Bordeaux is not just a trade fair, but “a city within a city’’, where “almost 500 companies from France and Africa with future-facing projects will present their expertise, tangible solutions and visions for the environment, energy, mobility, healthcare, education, finance, research, safety, resources, agriculture, sport and other subjects’’.

Most importantly, it would be hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron and in attendance would also be 54 African Heads of State.

In line with this, the French government is also organising the “Challenge of the 1,000”, where 1,000 African entrepreneurs offering sustainable solutions for the future will be selected and invited with sponsorship to include flight and accommodation to present their idea at “the City of solution”  where more than 15,000 stakeholders, including investors will attend.

Again, in line with this, the French Embassy in Ghana is encouraging as many Ghanaian Entrepreneurs to enter the “Challenge of the 1,000’’ by filling out the application form which can be located at the embassy’s website (https://gh.ambafrance.org/). Closing date for entries is January 31, 2020.
