‘Ghana has not imported maize for last 2 years’- Finance Minister

The Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori Atta has stated that the Planting  for Food and Job program introduced by the Akufo-Addo Administration has expanded the Agricultural sector in the Nation.

According to the Finance Minister, there is an increase in the Gross Development Production (GDP) 2.9 percent in 2016 to 4.8 per cent in 2018 and has projected to 6.4 per cent in 2019.

In his budget to Parliament November 13, he said it is a massive improvement.

“Unlike the past, Ghana will have to import maize to be able to feed the Ghanaian populace.”

“Due to that, the industrial sector is expanding to improve upon the living conditions of Ghanaians,” he said.

The Minister equated the growth of the macroeconomic to the strong policies and decisions of the Akufo-Addo Administration.

“The restoration and sustainability of macroeconomic stability has been the corner stone of the economic policy of President Akufo-Addo’s government.”

He further stated that the growth and stability in the microeconomic has helped the Akufo-Addo government to fulfill all their promises to the people of Ghana.
