The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has called on global investors to choose Ghana as the best destination for ethical and profitable mining investment in Africa.

Speaking at the 23rd Africa Down Under Conference in Perth, Australia, on Thursday, September 4, Mr. Buah described Ghana as a safe, stable, and promising country for mining ventures.

“You can invest in Ghana with confidence, knowing that your investments are protected by a stable political environment and a government that upholds the principles of good governance, including the rule of law and the sanctity of contracts,” he said.

Highlighting Ghana’s position as Africa’s leading gold producer and its long history as the Gold Coast, the Minister revealed that the country has already attracted over USD 20 billion in mining investment. He added that Ghana’s three decades of peaceful political transitions make it a beacon of democracy on the continent.

Beyond gold, Mr. Buah urged investors to consider Ghana’s growing opportunities in other minerals critical to the global clean energy transition. He pointed to bauxite and iron ore reserves, which are being developed through state agencies such as the Ghana Integrated Bauxite Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC) and the Ghana Integrated Iron and Steel Development Corporation (GIISDEC). Ghana, he said, holds over 1.5 billion tonnes of iron ore resources.

On lithium and other base metals, the Minister noted ongoing exploration by Atlantic Lithium Limited and the country’s strong prospects in cobalt, copper, nickel, and zinc — all key for the battery and technology industries.

Mr. Buah also emphasized Ghana’s mining ecosystem, which boasts more than 200 engineering and service companies and over 500 active exploration projects, making the country one of the most attractive mining destinations in Africa.
