The Nigerian government will by the end of this week allow Ghanaian goods in and out of the country.

This is the outcome of diplomatic discussions between Ghana and Nigeria since the closure of the Nigeria-Benin border some months ago.

The President of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce, Nana Appiagyei Dankawoso announced this during an interaction with the media at Atwima Nkoransa in Kumasi.

Nana Appiagyei Dankawoso’s media engagement followed observations made when he led some members of the National Chamber of Commerce to visit selected indigenous industries in the Ashanti Region to learn at first hand their operating environment, successes as well as challenges.

These companies are in the alcoholic beverage, fashion and poultry sub sectors. During the tour, members of the chamber interacted with the management staff of the companies and also toured their premises to familiarize with their production processes.

Interacting with journalists later, the President of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce, Nana Dankawoso described the closure of the Nigeria-Benin border as unfortunate but added that Ghana was not the target of the policy.

Touching on increasing Ghana’s export, Nana Appiagyei Dankawoso disclosed that next month, a government delegation including representatives of industry, will travel to the United States to woo potential investors to do business in  the country while promoting products particularly textile on the back of the Africa Growth Opportunity Act, AGOA.
