The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has begun the nationwide enforcement of its mandatory receipt system for all licensed gold buyers.

In a statement issued on Monday, August 18, 2025, the Board said that every licensed buyer—including aggregators, self-financed aggregators, Tier 1 and Tier 2 buyers—must issue a GoldBod receipt for every gold transaction. It explained that this measure is crucial to ensure that all purchases and sales are valid.

GoldBod noted that a special taskforce and field inspectors have been deployed across the country to monitor compliance. Buyers are required to make their receipt booklets available for checks and to cooperate fully with inspection teams.

The Board also urged small-scale miners and gold traders to demand a GoldBod receipt after selling their gold.

GoldBod warned that buyers who fail to issue receipts will face sanctions, including suspension or cancellation of their licence.

The Board expressed appreciation for the cooperation of buyers so far and called for a stronger commitment to ensure transparency and integrity in Ghana’s gold trade.
