GRA embarks on nationwide swoop on tax stamp offenders

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has embarked on a nationwide swoop on Tax Stamp offenders.

A taskforce of the Authority, enforcing the Tax Stamp Policy stormed parts of the Upper East region to seize several products without the tax stamp.

They also visited Voltic, Ghana Guinness Depot, Coca Cola depot and Mateen Sakeena Company Limited distributors of 5-Star Energy drink in Tamale and selected retail outlets and warehouses in Kumasi.

The exercise is to ensure product manufacturers comply with the Tax Stamp policy which mandates all manufacturers to affix tax stamps on all excisable products

After a visit to some manufacturing firms, wholesale depots and retail shops in Bawku, Navrongo and Bolgatanga, the team observed general improvement in compliance with the policy but seized some products including alcoholic beverages identified without the tax stamp Act.

Speaking in an interview with GBC Radio, a Senior Principal Revenue Officer at the GRA, James Cudjoe , said the exercise was a follow up to ensure strict compliance of the excise tax stamp.He expressed satisfaction about the compliance level in the region.
