The Medium Tax Office of the Ghana Revenue Authority GRA as part of its routine inspection and assessing of registered goods has impounded some items which have no Excise Tax Stamp embossed on them in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional Capital.
The exercise which was in collaboration with officials from GRA Headquarters in Accra visited many warehouses to ascertain whether they have complied with the tax stamp directive.
Speaking to the media, the Principal Revenue Officer of GRA, Nathan Dankwa said his outfit will extend the exercise to manufacturing companies across the country to ensure that they have tax stamp on the various goods.
Touching on goods which were seized during the exercise, he said the GRA is giving managers of the affected warehouses thirty days beginning from today to pay the required tax amount and additional thirty percent penalty.
