An Accra High Court has dismissed an application by lawyers of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), to strike out a case by UniCredit, challenging the BoG’s decision to revoke its Operational License.

UniCredit, after the Central Bank revoked its license, filed an application for judicial review.

But before that case could be heard, the BoG through its lawyers filed another application asking the court to strike out UniCredit’s application.

It was the case of the Central Bank that UniCredit, per its case against the BoG did not properly invoke the jurisdiction of the court.

It contended that, the grievances of UniCredit was to have started at arbitration level and not the court.

But the Court, presided over by Justice George Koomson said its jurisdiction was not wrongly invoked and that it has the mandate to hear the case.

A cost of three thousand cedis was subsequently slapped on the BoG.
