Issues surrounding the collapse of the seven local banks continue to dominate discussions.

Panelists on GBC’s Current Affairs Programme, ”Talking Point”, in that direction have questioned the role of the Central Bank in these developments.

They are of the view that the Bank of Ghana cannot be exonerated from the collapse, as it failed in its oversight responsibilities, including conducting due diligence.

A Banking Consultant, Dr. Richard Atuahene said the issuing of licenses was not properly done and this bane of the collapse.

An Economist, Habib Adam sharing same thoughts said the problem about the collapse of the banks goes beyond the Central Bank.

Explaining his point, Mr Adam said the proliferation of banks is becoming unbearable, and the Central Bank’s supervisory role too weak.
