The Petroleum Commission has warned it will not renew the license of international oil companies who refuse to open accounts with indigenous Ghanaian banks as stipulated by law.

The Commission, through its intensified monitoring and evaluation, has found that most foreign oil companies have active bank accounts with foreign banks while they open accounts with local banks just to satisfy the regulation.

The commission is worried the situation denies the country foreign exchange, which further weakens the cedi.
