Minsk, Belarus – President John Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to modernising Ghana’s agriculture sector following a visit to the Belagro 2026 Agricultural Exhibition in Belarus, where he toured cutting-edge farming, mining and industrial machinery displays.
Accompanied by Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister, the President described the visit as timely and aligned with his government’s vision to transform agriculture through mechanisation, technology transfer and strategic partnerships with Belarus.
At the exhibition, President Mahama inspected a wide range of modern agricultural equipment and heavy-duty machinery, including the renowned Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ) product lineup, Minskyekspo ZAO displays, Bobruiskagromash fertilizer application equipment, and the giant BelAZ-75710 haul truck, one of the world’s largest mining trucks.
In a brief remark, President Mahama noted that the visit, undertaken at the invitation of the Belarusian President, provides a valuable opportunity for Ghana to learn from Belarus’ extensive experience in agricultural mechanisation and industrial development.
He said the knowledge and technologies on display would support his administration’s efforts to revolutionise Ghana’s agriculture sector, improve productivity, and enhance food security.
The President is on a four-day state visit, during which he is expected to hold high-level bilateral engagements aimed at strengthening cooperation between Ghana and Belarus, particularly in the areas of agriculture, trade, and industrial development.
