Minority to hold news conference on unchanged cocoa price for 2018/19

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Juaboso, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, says cocoa farmers are unhappy about government’s decision to maintain the cocoa price for the 2018/19 crop season.

Speaking on our news and current affairs programme ‘Behind the News’ Mr Akandoh wished government had increased the price to cushion the difficulties facing farmers.

He said the Minority will hold a news conference today  (October 3) on the issue.
The Head of Public Affairs of COCOBOD, Noah Amenya argued that prices are determined by myriad of factors including the ‘FOB’ price on the world market.

However, prices have not appreciated for cocoa farmers to expect an increase.
