Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has commended the World Trade Association, WTCA’s initiative “Pivot to Africa” which focuses on enhancing investment and trade in Africa. 

He said government is committed to such a worthy cause as the initiative has come at a time when the Continent is experiencing significant economic growth and transformation, presenting immense opportunities for investment and trade. 

Speaking at the opening of the ongoing 53rd WTCA General Assembly meeting in Accra, Dr. Bawumia said, “Ghana like many other African countries is determined to promote the agenda of an Africa beyond aid, leveraging resources and global partnerships to advance the best interest of the people”.

He therefore called on all stakeholders to partner governments in the region to work towards building an integrated market that will be competitive on the international front. 

Touching on some key initiatives introduced in Ghana, Vice President Bawumia said “through mobile money interoperability, access to financial services has increased from 30 percent to 90 percent, making the country the fastest growing mobile money market in Africa”.
