The Pharmaceutical Importers and Wholesalers Association (PIWA), has registered its displeasure against the government, concerning huge debts owed them.

It says given the business environment under which their members operate, the delay in payment for their supplies is severely stifling their businesses and making them uncompetitive within the Sub-region.

Speaking to Radio Ghana, the Executive Secretary of the Association, Joe Fiifi Yamoah, stated that members of PIWA who are responsible for the importation of more than seventy percent of all medicines used in Ghana, are operating with loans contracted at very high-interest rates, therefore any delay in payment has adverse effect on their credibility with their bankers.
