The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Bank of Ghana has reduced the policy rate further by 250 basis points to 15.5 per cent.

This was announced by the Chair of the MPC, Dr. Johnson Asiama, during the 128th Monetary Policy Committee press conference.

According to Dr. Asiama, global financing conditions have eased considerably in both advanced and developing economies.

The global dimensions are expected to be favourable for the domestic economy. On the domestic front, he said, growth has gained momentum over the year.

The bank’s core inflation measure, which excludes energy and utility prices, also eased.

Regarding public debt, Dr. Asiama stated that it declined to 45.5% of GDP at the end of November 2025.

On the local currency, the Chair of the MPC explained that the cedi strengthened against the major trading currencies and has remained stable.

The committee noted that macroeconomic conditions have improved significantly.
