The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission, PURC, is set to announce new utility tariffs by December 9, 2018.

It is however, not clear whether tariffs will be increased or reduced. This was revealed at a meeting  to discuss the proposed template for major tariff adjustments in 2019, with utility providers and stakeholders.

Present at the meeting were representatives from the Ghana Water Company Limited, NEDCo, GRIDCo, Electricity Company of Ghana, new ECG concessionaire Meralco Consortium and other private utility providers.

According to the PURC all the utility companies are to provide information on their assets and liabilities as well as loans among other things. This should be done according to the new tariff proposal template and this template should be a projection of the next five years based on which the PURC will determine a tariff review.
