Steel prices remain unchanged as Trade Minister assures manufacturers of Government support

Steel manufacturers in Ghana have assured the public that prices of steel products will not be increased, following several government interventions including the current stability of the Cedi.

The assurance was given on Friday, January 23, 2026, when the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, met with steel producers at the Ministry’s Conference Room in Accra.

Speaking to the press during the meeting, the Chairman of B5 plus LTD, Mr. Mike Thakwani who spoke on behalf of the Association indicated that regardless of some other issues confronting the steel industry, prices of steel products would remain unchanged.

He further assured that steel products would continue to be readily available in markets across the country.

Mr. Thakwani reiterated the industry’s commitment to supporting government initiatives and expressed appreciation to the Trade Minister for the consistent cooperation and support extended to the sector over the years.

In her remarks, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, commended the steel manufacturers for their significant contribution to national development and economic growth, acknowledging their continued support towards improving the Ghanaian economy.

She explained that steel manufacturers had engaged her on a number of operational challenges and had requested government support to address them.

Mrs Ofosu-Adjare stated that government has carefully listened to the concerns raised by the manufacturers and would take the necessary steps to address them appropriately. She expressed gratitude to the steel producers for the sacrifices they continue to make in support of economic growth and reaffirmed government’s commitment to working closely with the industry to ensure the sustained growth and development of Ghana’s steel sector.
