A Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Carlos Ahenkorah has hinted of government’s plans to restructure the National Board for Small Scale Industries, NBSSI, as an Enterprise Development Authority.
Speaking at a NBSSI Partner Appreciation Event in Accra, Mr. Ahenkorah said the move is in alignment with government’s vision of accelerating the pace of the country’s industrialisation drive.
He indicated that the restructuring will also lead to the transformation of the institution to support Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises, MSME’s, effectively.
The Executive Director of NBSSI, Kosi Yankey intimated, that the Board’s collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency, JICA, seeks to expand the National KAIZEN Project across all regions of Ghana during its second phase which starts from next year to 2021.
This, she said will enhance the overall capacity of the established Business Resource Centers, BRC’s, to effectively serve MSME’s.
The occasion was used to launch the NBSSI’s Magazine called “The Enterprise,” which showcases the works of the institution.
