The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has issued a strong condemnation of the unsportmanlike conduct displayed by some players and team officials following the TotalEnergies AFCON Morocco 2025 final between hosts Morocco and Senegal in Rabat on Sunday, January 18, 2026.

In a statement released on the official website of CAF, the acts were described as unacceptable

and inconsistent with the values of professionalism, respect and fair play that the competition seeks to uphold.

The football body added that misconduct directed at match officials, organizers, or any other stakeholders will not be tolerated, particularly on a stage as prestigious as the AFCON final.

CAF further confirmed that it is currently reviewing available match footage and official reports. The incident will be referred to the appropriate disciplinary bodies, with sanctions expected for individuals found to have violated competition regulations.

The governing body reiterated its commitment to protecting the integrity of African football and ensuring that high-profile fixtures remain a celebration of the sport rather than overshadowed by controversy.

The AFCON final, which attracted thousands of spectators in Rabat and millions of viewers across the continent, marked the climax of the month-long tournament hosted by Morocco.
