Calls to relocate site for National Cathedral, as court injunction looms.

General Secretary of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, Reverend Emmanuel Bariga has suggested an alternative site for the proposed National Cathedral which is generating a lot of controversy.

Speaking on Radio Ghana’s Current Affairs Programme, “Behind the News”, Reverend Bariga said the controversy surrounding the project casts a slur on its relevance, hence, another site should be considered to make way for it.

President Akufo-Addo in March last year cut the sod for the construction of a National Cathedral to serve as a Non-Denominational Christian Worship Centre.

The proposed site which is near the Ridge Roundabout is close to the Passport Office and has bungalows housing some Appeal’s Court Judges.

These offices and homes have to be demolished to pave the way for the National Cathedral.

But this move of evicting people for the project has been criticised by the public, as some have questioned if the project is necessary.
