Car accident claims 30 lives in D.R Congo

In the Democratic Republic of Congo, about 30 people died early yesterday when a packed bus veered off a highway, west of the capital Kinshasa, bursting into flames.

According to a Red Cross spokesman, David Nsiala, 18 others sustained third-degree burns.

Mr Nsiala said they are continuing the work of identifying the bodies.

The bus, carrying people and goods, was said to be traveling from Lufu to Kinshasa when the brakes failed.

An injured passenger said more than 100 people were in the vehicle at the time, and many bodies burned beyond recognition.
