Nicknamed “The Terrible” Taylor due to his ferocious shots and goal poaching skills against goalkeepers, his transfer from Hearts of Oaks to rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko didn’t come without sour grapes.

Even years after his retirement, Hearts fans still call him an outright traitor, a deed some have never been able to forgive.

Speaking in an interview with GBC’s Gloria Peprah, on GTV Sports+ Morning Show, Taylor said: “even though he loved the Oak family, it was time to seek new adventures with Kotoko.”

He also requested the fans to forgive him because he still loves the club. He revealed that while gone, he called Dan Quaye often to encourage the team whenever Hearts had a game.

Charles Taylor, former Black Stars striker and one of the few players to have played for both Kotoko and Hearts, was a defender’s nightmare.

Wanting him at all cost, it took a great effort by the teeming supporters of Kotoko to assist their management to claw Taylor out of the jaws of Accra Hearts of Oak in a Rambo style move in a record transfer then, that cost the porcupines a whopping ¢80,000.00.
