CLOGSAG suspends nationwide strike, resumes work from March 24

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has called off its nationwide strike following governments appeal for continuous engagement on conditions of service. The leadership of the Association has ordered members to return to work from March 24. 2026.

The Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG Isaac Bampoe Addo, announced the association’s decision at a press conference held in Accra, stating that the National Executive Committee took the decision after reviewing government’s request for a 14- day period to address their concerns.

“The National Executive Committee of CLOGSAG, on March 17, 2026, reviewed the appeal by government to call off the nationwide strike action and allow Government fourteen days to come to an amicable resolution of the issues with the salary structure and conditions of service of members. “he said

Mr Bampoe further urged all members of CLOGSAG to comply fully with the directive and return to work from Tuesday March 24,2026.

The Association had insisted the strike would continue despite an intervention from the National Labor Commission to resolve the impasse, citing delay from government in addressing their concerns

Mr Addo expressed optimism that the engagement with government will lead to a mutually acceptable conclusion beneficial for his members

He also added that CLOGSAG was monitoring the outcome of discussions within the 14-day period and will take further steps if necessary.
