Complete abandoned GETFund and road projects at UHAS- Management

Management of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), in Ho, has appealed to the government to fast-track processes for work to resume on some abandoned GETFund and road projects at the University.

They are hopeful that the completion of the projects will contribute to an increase in enrollment at the University.

The Vice Chancellor of UHAS, Prof. Lydia Aziato, who made the appeal during the 7th Congregation of the University, said several qualified applicants could not gain admissions due to lack of adequate infrastructure.

The 7th Congregation of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) saw a total of 826 students graduate from the University’s Schools of Allied Health Sciences, Basic and Biomedical Sciences, Medicine, Nursing and Midwifery, Public Health and Sports and Exercise Medicine.

The Graduands from the School of Pharmacy were the first batch of Doctor of Pharmacy students and scored 100 percent in their Examinations.

The third cohort of 72 graduates from the School of Medicine also scored 100 percent in the examinations.

Currently, Phase 2 of China Aid projects, which is the School of Nursing and Midwifery, is progressing steadily.

The Vice Chancellor of UHAS, Prof. Lydia Aziato, said though the University has made progress in academic work and infrastructure, there is the need for massive infrastructural development to increase enrollment.

The Minister for Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum pledged the government’s support to ensure that UHAS carried out its mandate to produce global standards health care professionals to enhance the health sector. He urged management of tertiary institutions to produce human resources that would be useful in all sectors of the country’s economy.

The Guest of Honour, Agbogbomefia of Asogli, Togbe Afede, urged the graduates to be part of a generation of critical thinkers who will bring transformation to the health sector of the country.

The Guest Speaker, Chief Executive Officer of the Food and Drugs Authority, Delese Mimi Darko, urged the graduates to utilise advancement in technology to engage in scientific research that will be beneficial to Ghana.
