The UNDP Technical Advisor, Dr. Eric Oduro Osae, has urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to conduct the exercise in a value for money manner in order not to disenfranchise any Ghanaian.

Speaking on GBC’s Current Affairs Programme, “Talking Point”, he mentioned that data must play a critical role in the exercise since the country has usually downplayed data and its related issues.

He said this following  last week’s Supreme Court green light to the Electoral Commission to proceed with its Limited Registration Exercise.

He further called on the Commission to put in place mechanisms to check the eligibility of voters.

A Lecturer at the UPSA, Fred Awaah who welcomed the court’s decision called for intensive public education and recommended that the exercise be conducted in consultation with various stakeholders.

Director, Electoral Services, Electoral Commission, Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, also said election is not the sole responsibility of the EC.

He then charged the people to contribute by ensuring that only those who are 18 and of sound mind take part in the exercise.
